Making Banana “Ice Cream” in a blender after a long bike ride.
Personal Heart Rate Training, too much tech, and some Total Immersion swimming drills.
i8this day2
An easy quick dinner, steak on the grill and and veggies in the microwave. The second day of the #i8this challenge on twitter. @holisticguru who started the #i8this challenge asked for extra mindfulness during eating today to help with portion control. I am starting to believe that mindful portion control is only necessary when eating too many carbohydrate at meals, and instead by eating primal you will be full. Your insulin levels will be in check and you won’t want to eat more anyway.
#i8this challenge day 1
This is day one on the #i8this challenge on twitter. My challenge is to eat more primal style since I recently started reading the primal blueprint and moving to a more primal diet instead of paleo for athletes that I was following before.
Good Calories, Bad Calories
I just finished reading this interview and watching this video lecture by Gary Taubes. The author of Good Calories, Bad Calories. Now I want to go out and get the book. His presentation covers fat metabolism and how it is linked to insulin levels and not directly to calories taken in or burned. The text interview also mentions how he recommends a paleolithic type of diet.
Evening Run and Morning Swim
Who knew a heart rate monitor with only one button is actually kinda hard to use, I don’t know how many times to hit the button to get to what I want to see.
Making a quick salad
Brick Workout
I am trying to get in more brick workouts this year since they are one thing that is specific to triathlon and will help me with endurance and let me practice my transitions at the same time. One brick workout a week is what I can fit in right now so i’m usually doing them on sunday and then taking monday as a rest day. Park bike, Helmet off, bike gloves off, bike shoes off, running shoes on, running hat on, go!
Lunch
He
re is my lunch today. Salad with spring greens, carrots, radishes, baked chicken pieces, raisins, unsweetened shredded coconut, and a little bit of yogurt honey mustard dressing. Since i’ve started making lunch in the cave each morning I can finally manage to eat right at work without having to go out and buy a supposedly healthy lunch from a local restaurant with who knows what in it. Making lunch each day has been key for me to follow a caveman eating plan.
